Singer-Songwriter Kay Jay a.k.a Mr Emergency (@KayJayOgbonna), made a stop at Rainbow FM for the Reality Check morning show with Rainbow FM ’OAP’ Aforfem (@aforfresh).

In line with his background as a songwriter for many years, Kay Jay shares his own story to the ‘second-best syndrome’ theme of the day whereby he reveals that artists intentionally hide songwriters from other artists and from public knowledge, so that no one knows they didn’t write the song themselves and so that they can keep the songwriter’s resources to themselves.

He adds that it’s time the Nigerian music industry addresses this problem of improper song crediting so that songwriters can be acknowledged and credited for their own creativity and input, especially for largely contributing to the success of the song.

Kay Jay has apparently written many popular songs for A list Nigerian artists such as ‘Iyanu’ by Iyanya, ‘Catching Cold’ by Tunde Ednut, ‘Psycho’ by KCEE featuring WizKid, Kay Jay has since come out of his own second-best syndrome with the support of a deal with newly established music management company ‘The Boost Entertainment’.
